Blue Light Emergency Call Boxes

Hoboken should build out a network of blue light call boxes in parks, public promenades, near the path station, and leading to Steven's campus.
Homelessness and the mental health crisis across the country is worsening, and we feel it in Hoboken. We must be proactive and give our police force more tools to rapidly respond in a compassionate but effective way.
We need a common-sense way to ensure our residents feel safe in their own neighborhoods while managing our response to this population with agencies in our county and state.
The blue light system should be built into public spaces. Paired with a more robust community policing plan they will deter crime. We've seen the improvement police presence brought to Church Square Park. These call systems are on college campuses and public spaces all over the country - and can provide immediate communication to police.
We also have 23 police officer positions that were back filled recently. We need to see those officers on the streets, in our parks and on the waterfront, on foot. We need a Mayor who holds police accountable and will demand that they allocate resources in the places they are most needed.
